I can’t believe it’s December and the new year is in sight already! A time of new game, new chances. January 1st feels like a new beginning for many, and personally I like to take the opportunity to make a fresh start too. I can feel pretty tired at the end of the year which makes me searching for new energy and inspiration. That’s why I want to share some tips for creating purposeful new year’s resolutions for your healthiest and happiest 2019!

1. Think in opportunities
One of the most important things I’ve learned the past years, is that success and positivity go hand in hand. Thinking in problems will take you a lot less further than thinking in opportunities! Don’t limit yourself by thinking what you may CAN, but imagine yourself what you WANT to achieve. By writing this down, you can transform something from a dream to a goal!
2. Be specific
When setting your goals, it’s important to be specific to keep track of your progress. The difference between “in 2019 I’m going to work out more” and “in 2019 I’m going to work out 3 times a week for 1 hour” is all in the details. This way you will know exactly what you’re up to and it’s easier to motivate yourself to reach that goal! One of my personal goals for 2019 is walking 10.000 steps on a daily basis: specific and measurable.
3. Prepare well
Reaching goals always asks for preparation, even though it’s just a minor task. For example: subscribe at a gym (the most gyms have good deals this time of year!), get some cookbooks with healthy and tasty recipes (Christmas gift maybe?), or find a nice diary to keep track of your progress. This way you are fully ready and will have a head start!
4. Reward yourself
Getting out of your comfort zone and taking new challenges is 100% worth rewarding! Think in advance of what you would like to be rewarded with when your goals are achieved. This reward will work extra motivating and may give you that last push to reach your purposeful new year’s resolutions.
The final most important tip I want to give for 2019 is to always stay true to yourself. Never forget to listen to your body, to follow your dreams and to keep grounded. The only one that can keep you from reaching things is you. Your possibilities are endless and believing in yourself is what it takes to get to that purposeful new year’s resolutions and chase your ultimate dreams.
