If you’ve been following me for a longer period of time, it’s no surprise when I tell you that I’m a big fan of those early bird morning runs! It’s true, when it’s time for a run I literally jump out of bed when I wake up, because I’m that excited. Want to know why it makes me so excited and why a morning run is extremely beneficial for your fit shape too? In today’s blog post I tell you all about it!
When my morning alarm rings I get out of bed immediately. For me it’s important to work up that running sweat asap and don’t wait too long, or I’ll lose my drive – and get late for work. I grab my running gear, eat a banana, drink a Whey shake and I’m out for my morning run. I know that running early in the morning requires will-power and brings you to the next level of self-discipline. TIP: Try to mentally prepare yourself the night before and make sure you have your running gear and a small pre-workout snack ready.
Here’s why morning runs rock:
1. Morning runners lose weight faster!
A morning run will kick-start your metabolism first thing in the morning and allow your body to burn more calories faster throughout the day. Personally I go to bed earlier on days I run, because my body is more tired compared to a weight training. Benefit: no midnight snacking for me!
2. Energy booster!
Whenever I arrive at work after my morning run (and the day just started) I’m already wide awake, feeling energetic and satisfied. It kind of leads to clearer thinking too! Trust me, the movement, fresh air and extra blood flow will leave you ready to tackle the day!
3. No agenda conflicts!
Anytime I plan a workout session after work I have to rush home, get in a conflict with my pre-workout meal, have to pack my workout bag (and forget something ha ha) and I kind of feel restless. However, when I go for a morning run I’m already finished for the day! PERFECT!
4. Time efficient!
I’m a big fan of HIIT’s (High Intensity Interval Training) because it’s the most time efficient way to get lean, get touch and conditioned. It just takes 30 minutes of my time and I’m done!
